What the code means
dE means the washer door couldn't lock.
dE1 means the door isn't closed properly. Laundry caught between the door and the rubber gasket can cause it.
dE2 means the door is closed but not locked. LG lists an overloaded drum, items stuck between the door and the gasket, or a bent or broken door latch as causes.
Before you start
- Turn the washer off before you reach into the door area.
- For the reset, unplug the washer or switch off its breaker.
What the manufacturer says to check
- Open the door and close it again.
- Check that nothing is caught between the door and the rubber gasket, and that nothing stops the door from closing all the way. If the drum is packed full, take some items out.
- Reset the washer. Turn it off and unplug it, or switch off its breaker. With the power off, hold Start/Pause for five seconds. Then restore the power and try again.
Stop and call for service
Stop and call for service if any of these happen.
- dE1 or dE2 keeps coming back. LG says the washer will need service.
- The door latch looks bent or broken. LG lists that as a cause of dE2, and replacing it isn't covered here.
