LG washer UE code? The load is off balance. Check these first

Applies to: LG front-load washers and washer dryer combos. LG has a separate page for UE on top-load washers, which this page doesn't cover.

What the code means

UE means the laundry has piled up on one side of the drum and the washer can't balance it to spin. A load that is too large or too small can also cause it.

Before you start

  • Pause the washer before you reach into the drum.
  • Unplug the washer before you move it or adjust its legs.

What the manufacturer says to check

  1. Pause the washer, take the laundry out and spread it evenly around the drum.
  2. Aim for a load that fills about two thirds of the drum.
  3. Leave out things that shouldn't go in the washer. For pillows and cushions, take the stuffing out and wash just the cover. LG says bath mats, carpets, electric blankets, curtains and rubber mats can be damaged, and waterproof clothes and dolls can harm the washer.
  4. Wash blankets on the Duvet cycle and padded jackets on the Sportswear cycle, with the spin speed on medium.
  5. If you use laundry nets, fill each one about two thirds full and don't wash a single net by itself. Wash two or three nets together with some clothes.
  6. Level the washer. Rock it front to back and side to side. Adjust the leg on the side that tilts with a wrench, check that every leg sits firmly on the floor, and confirm with a level on the top.

Stop and call for service

Stop and call for service if any of these happen.

  • The code keeps coming back after these steps. LG says to request service.
