What the code means
4E means water isn't entering the washer correctly.
It isn't the same as 4C2, 4E2, CE, 14C2 or nF1. Those mean the hot and cold hoses are swapped. Samsung says that code doesn't mean service is needed: connect cold to cold and hot to hot, blue to blue and red to red.
Samsung's Latin America page adds that the buttons stop responding for three minutes after the code appears.
Before you start
- Turn the water supply valves off before you disconnect any hose.
- Unplug the washer before you reach behind it.
What the manufacturer says to check
- Check that the hot and cold supply hoses are on the right inlets, hot to hot and cold to cold, and that they aren't bent or kinked. Samsung notes that if the hot hose isn't connected, the washer shows the error when it tries to use hot water, which can happen even on cycles labelled Cold.
- Open both water valves fully, and leave them open while the washer runs.
- Check that the drain hose goes six to eight inches into the drain pipe and isn't kinked.
- Reset the washer. Unplug it, or switch off its breaker, for one minute. Then restore the power and try a cycle.
- Check the inlet filters. Turn the supply valves off, disconnect the hoses at the back of the washer and look inside the connections. Carefully remove the filters and clean them. Put everything back and open the valves fully again.
- In cold weather, check that the taps aren't frozen.
- Samsung says not to use Flood Safe hoses.
Stop and call for service
Stop and call for service if any of these happen.
- The code keeps coming back. Samsung says to request service.
- The washer keeps filling and won't stop. Turn off the water valves and request service.
