Whirlpool or Maytag oven F3E1 code? Try a power reset first

Applies to: Whirlpool and Maytag ranges, and Whirlpool wall ovens. On wall ovens, Whirlpool names the lower oven temperature sensor.

What the code means

F3E1 means there may be a problem with the oven temperature sensor, the oven control, or the wiring that connects them. Whirlpool's page doesn't say which one.

The page gives one thing to try yourself: a power reset at the breaker.

Before you start

  • Turn the oven off. The reset is done at the circuit breaker, so find the breaker or breakers for the range or wall oven first.

What the manufacturer says to check

  1. Switch off the circuit breaker or breakers for the oven for one minute, then switch them back on.
  2. Watch the oven for one minute to see if the code comes back.
  3. Check that the oven works.

Stop and call for service

Stop and call for service if any of these happen.

  • The code comes back after the reset. Contact Whirlpool or Maytag, or schedule service.
  • Whirlpool's page gives no checks beyond the reset, so leave the sensor, the control and the wiring to a repair service.
