Bosch dishwasher E24 code? It isn't draining. Check these first

Applies to: Bosch dishwashers. Bosch's US page doesn't name model families.

What the code means

E24 means the dishwasher isn't draining properly because the drain filter is blocked.

Bosch lists the signs: water pooling at the bottom after a cycle, a cycle that pauses or stops, and gurgling or humming sounds. The causes Bosch names are a blocked drain hose, a filter that needs cleaning, or a new garbage disposal whose knockout plug was never removed.

Before you start

  • Turn the dishwasher off at the breaker, or unplug it if it has a plug, before you take out the filter or check the hoses.

What the manufacturer says to check

  1. Check that the inlet hose isn't kinked or damaged.
  2. Check that the siphon connection is sealed.
  3. Pull out the filter, and clean it if it is clogged.
  4. Look at the pump cover at the bottom of the tub, under the filter. Check that it isn't loose.
  5. If the drain hose runs to a garbage disposal, make sure the plug was removed from the disposal's dishwasher drain connection.
  6. Once the cause is fixed, put the filter back and reset the dishwasher as your owner's manual says.

Stop and call for service

Stop and call for service if any of these happen.

  • The code is still there after these steps. Bosch says to contact Bosch customer service.
