Samsung washer UE code? The load is off balance. Check these first

Applies to: Samsung washers. Samsung lists the same error as Ub, U6, Ur, UE, 1 Ub or 1U6. On some models dC is the unbalanced load error, and on others it is a door error, so check your user manual.

What the code means

UE means the load in the tub is unbalanced. With UE and most of its other spellings, the washer won't finish the cycle because of it.

Ur is different. It stands for unbalanced load retry: the washer adds water, tries to rebalance the load and spins again, so the cycle runs longer. Samsung says Ur doesn't mean there is a problem with the washer.

Before you start

  • Pause the washer before you reach into the tub.
  • Unplug the washer before you move it, adjust its legs or open the pump filter. After a hot cycle the water inside may be very hot, so let it cool first.

What the manufacturer says to check

First

  1. Untangle the laundry and spread it more evenly around the tub.
  2. Close the door and press Start again.

If it keeps happening

  1. Small loads collect on one side. Add a few more items, or lower the spin speed.
  2. Bedding, blankets and other large items tangle. Spread them out by hand, and think about a lower spin speed. Don't wash floor mats, pillows or dog houses.
  3. Check that the washer is level. All four corners should sit firmly on the floor with no wobble. Adjust the legs, then tighten the locking nuts on a front-load washer.
  4. Run a small test load and check that the washer doesn't shake or vibrate.
  5. On a front-load washer, clean the pump filter. Samsung says the washer tries to drain before it spins.
  6. Leave one inch of space between the washer and the dryer, and between the washer and any wall.
  7. On a new front-load washer, check that the shipping bolts were removed.

Stop and call for service

Stop and call for service if any of these happen.

  • The washer never spins at all. Samsung says that may be a motor problem that needs service.
  • The code keeps coming back after every check here. Samsung's pages give no firmer rule, so call for service.
